Why Busing Failed

Through the 1960s and 1970s, desegregation busing at public schools was a hugely contentious practice, sometimes even leading to protests and violence. A new book from Dr. Matt Delmont, Why Busing Failed:Race, Media, and the National Resistance to School Desegregation, is the first book to examine battles over busing for school desegregation on a national scale in cities like Boston, Chicago, New York, and Pontiac, Michigan. The University of California Press published the book.
