Thanks to UA, asthma sufferers breathe easier

With 25 million Americans (including 7 million children) suffering from the disease, odds are that you or someone you know has asthma. But thanks to the pioneering research being conducted at UA, asthmatics have a better quality of life than ever before.

A five-year, $7 million National Institutes of Health grant awarded to UA’s Dr. Monica Kraft, an internationally renowned physician-scientist at UA who specializes in translational adult asthma research, will develop a better understanding of mediators that help control lung inflammation and improved therapies to reduce severe attacks in those with asthma.
