UA TASKED WITH BUILDING CATALOGUE TO SHOWCASE HARRY CALLAHAN’S RARE PHOTOGRAPHS

Twentieth century photographer Harry Callahan’s inventive photography has won many awards, including a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 1972. But while the prolific photographer and teacher produced much work, he did not have a system for cataloguing his own photographs.

UA’s Center for Creative Photography was awarded a National Endowment for Humanities grant to build a catalogue showcasing the photography of Harry Callahan. UA ranks #20 for research activity in the Visual and Performing Arts out of all NSF surveyed universities.
