Powering up

Solidifying its reputation as a leader in sustainability, ASU is partnering up with power company APS and PayPal to develop several hundred acres of scrub desert into a new energy-efficient power plant called the Red Rock solar power plant. ASU and its solar partners currently operate nearly 90 solar installations across university campuses, which total more than 24 MWdc and constitute one of the largest on-campus university solar-energy portfolios in the nation. The Red Rock project will push ASU past 50 MWdc (megawatts in the form of direct current) of renewable-energy capacity.
