The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University selected Dimitrios Psaltis, a professor in the Department of Astronomy, Steward Observatory at UA, as a Radcliffe Institute Fellow. The acceptance rate to the fellowship program this year was just under 4 percent, with Psaltis joining an extremely selective group of only 55 fellowship recipients across a broad array of fields. This fellowship will give him the opportunity to enhance his research by collaborating with experts at the forefront of other disciplines.
Dr. Psaltis' work focuses on the physics of neutron stars and black holes, the properties of magnetohydrodynamic turbulence in accretion flows, the testing of the theory of general relativity in the strong-field regime, and the physics responsible for the accelerating universe.
