Jessica Tierney Receives Packard Fellowship

Jessica Tierney, a UA associate professor of geosciences, was awarded one of this year’s prestigious Packard Science and Engineering Fellowships. She was one of only 18 such awardees this year.

With dozens of articles published to peer-reviewed scientific journals, Tierney’s areas of expertise include climatology, microbiology, climate change and geosciences. Her research involves investigation of encoded fossil molecules (biomarkers) preserved in sediments to analyze the effects of past climate change.
